A Call to Conscious Evolution
Inspired by Rev. Chris Jackson’s Sunday Message at Unity Village Chapel
There are moments in spiritual community when a message arrives with such clarity and conviction that it feels less like a sermon and more like a wake-up call. Rev. Chris Jackson’s recent talk at Unity Village Chapel was exactly that — an invitation to rise above fear, cynicism, and the illusion of regression, and to consciously choose evolution.
His core proposal was simple and bold:
Human consciousness is evolving — spiritually, socially, and collectively — even when the outer world seems chaotic or divided.
And remarkably, the determining factor in whether we experience breakdown or breakthrough in our lives is not what happens around us, but what we choose to believe.
1. We Are Not Evolving as Spiritual Beings — We Are Evolving in Consciousness
Rev. Chris began by clarifying a key distinction:
-
As spiritual beings, we are already whole.
-
As human beings, our consciousness is still unfolding.
This unfolding is not linear, predictable, or tidy. It spirals. It surges. It pauses. It breaks down old patterns so that something new can break through.
Many of us look around at current events and wonder if humanity is devolving — if fear, division, and materialism are winning. But Rev. Chris reminds us that evolution is often messy. “Something is always breaking down,” he says, “so that something brighter and more brilliant can break through.”
This paradox is not a sign of collapse.
It’s a sign of progress.
2. What We Believe Creates Our Experience
One of the most impactful invitations Rev. Chris offered is this:
Your belief — what you invest with faith — shapes the world you experience.
If you believe humanity is spiraling downward, you’ll see endless evidence of breakdown.
If you believe humanity is awakening, you’ll see breakthrough everywhere you look — even in places you didn’t expect.
This isn’t spiritual bypassing. It’s spiritual responsibility.
“Your power is your focus.”
Where attention goes, consciousness flows.
3. Signs of Breakdown … and Breakthrough
Rev. Chris openly acknowledged the real-world patterns that feel heavy: greed, political division, fundamentalism, and fear-based attempts to cling to the past. These are the “death rattles” of old systems struggling to maintain control.
But he also named the unmistakable signs of a new consciousness emerging:
-
Increasing self-awareness, introspection, and mindfulness
-
The global sharing of wisdom through technology
-
Renewed recognition of the oneness of life
-
A collective desire for meaning beyond materialism
-
Expanded compassion for marginalized groups
-
Visibility of ancient spiritual teachings
-
A rising generation that is astonishingly aware, connected, and intuitive
In his words, we can “become fixated on what’s breaking down,” or we can learn to support — and celebrate — the breakthrough.
4. Evolving Beyond Patriarchy: A Spiritual Shift
One of the most powerful and vulnerable sections of Rev. Chris’s message addressed the evolution beyond patriarchy.
He described patriarchy not simply as male dominance, but as a system that confines everyone — men, women, and all gender expressions — to narrow, limiting roles. And he shared his own journey of unlearning, healing, and expanding beyond the patriarchal model he inherited.
With humor, humility, and profound honesty, he described how watching women step into liberation eventually liberated him too.
“Every time a woman is liberated,” he said, “a man is liberated with her.”
This evolution is visible everywhere:
-
More women in leadership
-
Unisex facilities
-
Same-sex parents
-
Changing social roles
-
The Me Too movement’s accountability
-
Greater awareness of gender-based oppression
-
Rising advocacy from LGBTQ+ communities
He honored Pride Month with a moment so heartfelt the room erupted in applause. It wasn’t political. It was spiritual — an affirmation of oneness, equality, and love.
5. We Each Pour Into the Collective Field of Consciousness
Rev. Chris emphasized a truth at the heart of Unity teachings:
The world we see “out there” is a projection of the consciousness we cultivate within.
We each contribute energy to the collective human experience — fear or faith, contraction or compassion, despair or hope.
“Before you act,” he said, “ensure that you’re acting from a clear, clean state of consciousness.”
Because aligned action — not frantic reaction — is what elevates the whole.
6. Choose Your Side of the Spiral
Every day we are invited to choose:
-
Breakdown or breakthrough
-
Fear or faith
-
Limitation or possibility
-
Old consciousness or emerging consciousness
Rev. Chris urged us not to deny the challenges of our time, but to look for — and amplify — the evolutionary movements happening right alongside them.
Because they are happening.
And they are happening through us.
A Closing Invitation
This message is a call to remember who we are, what we are becoming, and how much power each of us holds through the simple act of attention.
Humanity is evolving.
Something luminous is emerging.
And your consciousness is part of the unfolding.
Ask yourself today:
Where am I focusing — on what is dissolving, or on what is being born?
The answer shapes not just your life, but our shared future.
