UNITY VILLAGE, MO — Unity Village Chapel invites the community to join in its annual Christmas Community Outreach Initiatives, providing food, clothing, and essentials to local children, teens, and families this holiday season. The campaign supports the Lee’s Summit Food Bank and Foster Adopt Connect, offering practical, heartfelt assistance to households facing hardship.
This year’s outreach focuses on two primary giving drives:
Kids need food to think — and every can makes a difference.
Food donations will be received in the Church Parking Lot at the Atrium Chapel on the 1st and 3rd Sundays, from 10:00–10:30 a.m.
All donations are delivered the following Monday to the Lee’s Summit Food Bank.
Holiday Food Requests Include:
Evaporated milk • Condensed milk • Stuffing • Canned sweet potatoes • Canned pie filling • Cream of mushroom/chicken soup • Mixed vegetables • Boxed potatoes • Gravy packets/jars • Jiffy mix • Marshmallows • Canned yams • Cranberries (canned/fresh/frozen) • Canned fruit • Crispy fried onions
Current Food Needs Include:
Pasta sauce • Pasta noodles • Canned meat (tuna, chicken, etc.) • Canned pasta meals (ravioli, spaghetti-o’s, etc.) • Soup (any) • Ramen • Canned fruit • Mixed vegetables • Jiffy mix • Jello • Jelly/peanut butter • Cereal • Hamburger
“We want our kids to be able to think — they have to have food to think,” says Kristen King Spiro, UVC member and prayer chaplain, who will personally collect food donations onsite. “Pray with your feet by walking donations to the parking lot. Thank you for helping feed our community.”
Supporting children entering foster care with dignity, comfort & care.
Donations are accepted every Sunday in the Atrium Lobby.
Items requested include:
Socks & underwear (high need for teen sizes — teen/adult small/medium)
Toiletries & hygiene items (shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, hair care products, lotion, body wash, etc.)
“Even small items like socks or underwear can bring warmth and dignity to a child entering foster care with almost nothing,” shared a UVC Board of Trustees representative. “Hygiene essentials restore confidence and help children feel cared for. Your generosity truly matters.”
Unity Village Chapel encourages members, neighbors, and friends to participate in the outreach throughout December. All offerings — whether one item or many — support real families and youth in the local community.
“This is what love in action looks like,” notes UVC leadership. “Together, we are feeding minds, warming hearts, and uplifting children and families with compassion and dignity.”
Food Drive: 1st & 3rd Sundays • 10–10:30 a.m. • Atrium Chapel Parking Lot
