Anna has attended Unity Village Chapel for over 2 years and has been a member since February 2014. After considerable prayer, Anna feels that serving on the Board of Trustees is the next step in her spiritual development and in Unity. She volunteers on the Social Action Ministry Team, Power Point Team and assists with Potlucks and other Chapel functions. She feels that her experience as a teacher for middle school and high school has given her skills that will make her a valuable asset to the Board of Trustees. She has participated in several classes as well as the Adventure in Spirituality program last fall.

Vice President: Ronna Gjesfeld Board term expires 2019
Continuing a spiritual journey that ignited here 3 years ago, Ronna became a member of Unity Village Chapel in January 2013. She states, “I absolutely enjoy being a member of the Volunteer Ministry-the people who keep things running smoothly.” Currently Ronna is the group leader for the Angel Assistants who support the Sunday Speaker and Musicians. She serves on the Power Point Team and has for the past two years facilitated a Sacred Circle as well as supporting several fundraising activities for the Chapel. “I wish to convey my heart-felt interest in being a member of the Unity Village Chapel Board of Trustees. I have succeeded in an administrative support role for over 25 years and believe that experience will be an asset to the Board of Trustees.”
Secretary: Linda Chappell Board term expires 2018
Linda has attended Unity Churches since she was 8 years old. After moving to Lee’s Summit she became a member of Unity Village Chapel in January 2013. As an active volunteer she serves as secretary for the Sisters of Myrtle Fillmore, helping with memorial lunches and other projects. She is also on the money steward team and assists the Youth and Family Ministry projects.
Linda is self-employed with “Spirit Works Cheerleading and Dance Company,” she has conducted summer cheer camps, been a featured speaker at conventions and served as a judge for competitions. Her love for Unity teachings has been a guiding force in her life.
Feeling called to serve on the Unity Village Chapel Board of Trustees, Linda says, “I am very enthusiastic, positive and pumped, and I know how to organize and get things done.”
Treasurer: Drayton Riley Board term expires 2019
As a member of Unity Village Chapel for 12 years, Drayton served on the Chapel Development Planning team, Board of Directors (1 yr), co-director of the Ministerial Search Committee and currently is heading up the Media Communications Team and serves as program director for the Men of Unity.
Drayton has attended a number of Adults of Unity Spiritual Retreats, Wise Men Retreats and various classes including the 4-T prosperity program. In addition, he has been a facilitator for the Chapel Fall Program Enrichment Circles and is currently the treasurer for the Gardens at Unity Village.
"I bring positive and creative thinking to problem solving, visioning and planning. My desire is to work as a member of a team to assure that UVC is a relevant spiritual center.”
Member: Denise Childs Board term expires 2017
Denise has been a member of Unity Village Chapel for 6 years. She is a full-time employee at Silent Unity and serves as a prayer chaplain for Unity Village Chapel and Unity Southeast. Her love of Unity has led her to volunteer with the Chapel Youth and Family Ministry and Nehemiah Retreats. She has also studied a number of Unity classes through the Spiritual Education and Enrichment program (SEE).
As a mother of two preteen sons, she and her spouse are extremely focused in supporting their development as young men. Unity teachings have served as guide posts in this process.
Denise feels she is being called to deepen her service and through her love of Unity will be "an asset to our church community" as a member of the Chapel Board of Trustees.

Member: Larry Smith Board term expires 2018
Since becoming a member of Unity Village Chapel in December 2008, Larry has taken a plethora of Unity courses and actively participated in Unity activities throughout the Kansas City area. He has volunteered as an usher and greeter, helped to create our Core Values and currently works with teens in our youth program twice a month. Larry feels called to serve on the Board of Trustees, saying, “I believe I have the ability to see the ‘big picture’ and a desire to see people succeed. It is my intention to continue learning and growing. I am loving and caring and respect the choices and beliefs of others and seek to resolve any discrepancies in order to promote peace and harmony. I bring an open mind to situations and look for ways that I can make a positive difference.”
Member: Ben Jamison Board term expires 2017
Ben Jamison came to Unity Village initially at the ripe old age of 3. After a period of time avoiding anything to do with spirituality, he re-engaged deeply in his spiritual practice at SpiritWorks Center for Spiritual Living in Burbank, CA over a decade ago. In that time, he has served on the Board of Trustees of SpiritWorks as a board member, Vice President, and President of the Board. He is a licensed Practitioner (spiritual counselor) through Centers for Spiritual Living and holds a Master's in Spiritual Psychology.
Ben is an excellent teacher and speaker, having taught classes and given Sunday talks at both Unity and Center for Spiritual Living centers in Southern California and the Midwest. His first book, Church-Free Spirituality: How to Craft a Spiritual Practice Beyond the Bounds of Religion is anticipated to be published in early 2017.
Ben recently returned to the Midwest with his wife Cheri in 2015 and, after exploring many spiritual centers in the area, came back home to Unity Village Chapel. They are both excited to be a part of our spiritual family and look forward to helping lead UVC and expand our reach to serve and inspire more people than ever before.
Unity Rep: Mark Fuss
Director of Outreach & Engagement, Unity World Headquarters Ordained a Unity minister in 2009, Rev. Mark Fuss has served Unity for more than a decade in several different roles. Mark started his Unity career at the Unity Village Bookstore and Coffee Shop while also being enrolled in school at Unity Institute® and Seminary. After his graduation he became Director of Admissions and Continuing Education for Unity Institute, and then moved into the Development Department in 2016. He also served as senior minister of Unity Spiritual Center in Springfield, Missouri, from 2010–2011. Before coming to Unity, Mark spent more than 20 years in retail management at the district and regional level. Mark has a Diploma in Unity Ministry from Unity Institute and Seminary and is completing an Executive Certificate in Religious Fundraising through the Lake Institute for Philanthropy and Duke Divinity School.
